Snatch Game is back! This week, our remaining queens pulled out their best (and sometimes worst) celebrity impressions for RuPaul’s infamous parody game show. With Emmy-winning guest judge Quinta Brunson in the house and a surprise werkroom visit from Alyssa “Back Rolls?” Edwards, the queens knew the pressure was high.
Here at Racer Chaser, we stan the queens who dig the snatch gaminess.
Main Challenge: Snatch Game
For Snatch Game, the queens had to bring humor, wit, and character. Preferably, they would do this all at the same time. The results included a mixed bag of brilliance, bold choices, and one very unfortunate mime.
- Onya Nurve absolutely ate in her portrayal of Eddie Murphy. She was funny and stayed in character. Her ability to shift between references without missing a beat secured her a well-earned win.
- Lexi Love played my personal hero, Gilbert Gottfried. The jokes, and the character, weren’t there. Inexplicably, the judges loved it.
- Suzie Toot chose Ellen Greene, a bold pick that could’ve been brilliant but was boring at best.
- Crystal Envy tried to serve Nicole Richie despite not seeming to know anything about Nicole. Or Lionel Richie’s music. Hello?
- Lana Ja’Rae as Rosa Parks…
Quinta Brunson’s career is safe as she faces absolutely no competition from these queens.
Runway Category: “Nailed It!”
Category is: claws, claws, claws! The queens stomped the runway with looks inspired by nail art, from elegant acrylics to full-on talon terror. Is this episode over yet?
- Lana Ja’Rae paid homage to Violet Chachki and gave the middle finger to originality.
- Sam Star served another fascinating look that proved she’s more than just a plain pageant princess.
- Onya Nurve had nails, nails, and more nails in a fun, frisky look.
- Suzie Toot gave an amazing and underappreciated iron maiden look that deserved more toots.
Lip Sync Showdown
After a weak Snatch Game and an underwhelming runway, Crystal Envy and Lana Ja’Rae were sent to the bottom two.
The song? Selena Gomez’s “Hands to Myself.” A superb midtempo banger that requires both smolder and sass.
- Lana Ja’Rae delivered a sultry, snappy performance, giving just the right amount of campy edge to make it entertaining.
- Crystal Envy tried for sexy sophistication but didn’t bring enough fire.
Lana Ja’Rae stayed while Crystal Envy sashayed away.
No Badonka Dunk Tank. No second chance. Just a clean exit for our understated queen.
Werk Room Watch
Backstage, the queens were feeling the fallout.
- Suzie Toot was clearly rattled after the judges roasted her soft-spoken Ellen Greene. When Lexi Love and Onya teased her gently, Suzie clapped back. The “Kumbaya Committee” might need a name change, because the energy was not namaste.
- Kori King continued to be the most unjustifiably confident contestant, constantly reading the other queens while in the confessional.
References, Puns & Gags Explained
- Snatch Game – A Drag Race classic, parodying Match Game with celeb impersonations. It’s a make-or-break moment every season. Unfortunately for the viewers, this was one of the worst iterations of this game ever.
- “Nailed It!” – This runway theme celebrates nail art, press-ons, and claws for days. And yes, some queens literally nailed it. Judging decisions make little sense unless viewed from a metatextual perspective that takes into account the narrative editors want to push onto the audience.
- Mimegate – Kori King, as usual, underperformed while copying someone else’s act. Hint: check out Season 7’s Snatch Game. That’s just the tip of it. Also, she walked the runway as the least interesting version of a French mime that only an American could imagine.
Keep the Conversation Going on Racer Chaser!
Was Onya’s Eddie Murphy the best impression since Jinkx’s Little Edie? Should Suzie Toot have picked a louder character or just turned up the volume? And can we talk about that Cardi B chaos?
